This should be compared with the other minors which give you points for rooms: Wooden Strongbox: The Gable is more expensive, but much easier to score points with. The Gable will always outscore the Strongbox. Half-Timbered House/Mansion: Both of these cards have higher top ends than Gable, but at a much, much, much higher cost, and with the requirement of stone rooms. The only imaginable situation in which I'd take one of these over Gable is if I had a really stupid rooms combo, and planned to build 10 or more. Pelts: Perhaps the closest to Gable, but with a trickier requirement. |

So with this card you cannot have 5 peeps in a 2 room house? | Dec 1, 2010 8:28am [quote] |

Now, that you pointed it out. That last sentence shouldn't be in parenthesis since it isn't a normal rule. |

I just beat out Tact with this card 56-52-47-42 in a 4-ER. I understand the purpose of this card is to reward large homes versus packing lots of people into a smaller home via FG without room. However this card should just pay out 2-3 VPs. 5 VPs is way too much because a large home isn't that hard. Something like: At the end of the game, you receive 1/2/3 Bonus points for 3/4/5 rooms that hold exactly 1 Family member. Then this would be more in line with Wooden Strongbox. But this card is funny. If you have 5 rooms then you'll most likely have 1 person in each room. So maybe the reward should be backwards: like 1/2/3 VPs for 5/4/3 rooms or something |
