You may sow Grain on Unused farmyard spaces. Planted spaces count as Grain fields and do not need to be adjacent to your existing plowed fields. You may move Grain from these fields to the general supply at any time and you must before scoring (or if this card gets removed or turned face down). [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

Not sure if there is card similar/the same as this already. I wanted to create a card based on permaculture. Earlier ideas included receiving a food per unused space at harvest, but that would clearly be broken. | Dec 4, 2010 2:37pm [quote] |

Its basically the Occupation version of Acreage. |
I like it but, this seems strong. Maybe you should say, "place 1 fewer Grain on each pile you Sow" and/or limit the number of spaces you can Sow.Dec 4, 2010 4:42pm [quote] (Edit: Dec 4, 2010 4:43pm) |

At least it wasn't another occupation. I thought I'd seen something like it before. I will read acreage some time to see how the strength compares and I'll think about what could be done to reduce it. possibly only sowing next to the house or pastures. | Dec 5, 2010 1:42am [quote] |

This was in the FotM deck which is why I hadn't seen it yet. Where as it makes me happy to have fitted the theme so well it has shown in unknown cards, it makes me a little sad that the idea is already out there. Any suggestions? Occupations should be better than minors but is this too much better than no-till or does it need scraping re-designing. I will have a think but thoughts are welcome. |
I have found the minor it unintentionally mimics, 'No-Till Farming' which is ironic as I was basing it on the no-dig method of farming adopted on some/many permaculture farms.Dec 10, 2010 7:42am [quote] |

I don't think it would be overpowered if it allowed you to sow Vegetables. The fact that the crops take up space on your farm that still counts as unused means that it plays a bit differently from Acreage or Lettuce Patch. It is obviously similar to No-Till Farming, but that's ok. The fact that NTF is in the expansion gives you a bit more room to maneuver, and Permaculturist is a different and stronger card. |
I like this card. It encourages early sowing very well.Dec 10, 2010 10:42am [quote] |

Quote from: ss on Dec 10, 2010 11:17am It not just early sowing. All i need to do is have enough crop and take a sow action in round 14 and i get full score from grain and vegi. Sure, if you already have 2 veg, 3 grain, and 5 unused spaces, you'll get full score on grain and veg with a round 14 sow... which is 5 more points than you already had... and -5 for unused spaces. |

I think the fact spaces are still unused stops it from being overpowered, but currently is just grain. Could add vegetables if people thought this would be okay. | Dec 11, 2010 1:42am [quote] |

This card with a few helping cards can make feeding real easy already. |
I would not add Vegetables. It is strong enough with just Grain. If you have this card with Market Crier or that Corn Minor that gives you 2 grain on grain or those guys that give Grain on RSF. This card will be real strong. With this card you can easily, Sow 3-4 grain in Stage 1 or 2 and have a ton going.Dec 11, 2010 9:39am [quote] |
