Place 3 Arrow markers on this card. Each round, between the Work and Returning home phase, you may pay 1 Wood and return 1 marker to move one of your people from the "Plow 1 field" or "Plow 1 field and/or Sow" Action space to a free Action space and take the action. This new idea maintains the same mechanic of moving off Plow after everyone has placed their peeps. It removed the "Do Not Sow" restriction because that was causing combo-ing problems with Unemployment like cards. In place of "Do Not Sow", it requires the owner pay Wood and its limited to a maximum of 3 uses. Limiting to 3 uses avoids too strong of a combo with Worm Bait. In the end the strength of this new card is a little better than an EIK Plow Minor. This requires 1 action and 3 Wood to get 3 fields (and 3 reduced actions) whereas a Plow Minor requires 1.5 actions and 3 Wood. |
This is a potential new version for Barrens Farmer. I created a new card now, so we can have some play tests if we choose to change Barrens to this.Mar 28, 2011 11:21am [quote] (Edit: Mar 28, 2011 11:25am) |

Good point letsdance. I think Forest Farmer is different enough to also be published, but your point is a good reason to keep Barrens Farmer how it is. | Mar 29, 2011 2:21pm [quote] |

i'm worried this card is weak. your comparison to a plow is interesting. compared to turnwrest plow. both cost 3w turnwrest for 3w and 1.5actions (1/2 to play and 1 to plow) you can plow 3 fields at once (2 extra fields) forest farmer for 3w and 1f and 1 action will get you 3 late actions, assuming you get to use it all 3 times. now compare to Bureaucrat, which is a strong card 3w is comparable to 3f typically, if not 3f being cheaper. and while Bureaucrat doesn't get you can extra actions, it gets you premium actions, which is much better. and it doesn't have the stipulation of taking a certain action first. we should discuss and test this card aggressively with it being such a late addition. |
replacing a card so late that's never been tested makes me nervous. Mar 29, 2011 3:38pm [quote] (Edit: Mar 29, 2011 3:52pm) |

Quote from: hunter on Mar 29, 2011 3:38pm replacing a card so late that's never been tested makes me nervous. i'm worried this card is weak. your comparison to a plow is interesting. compared to turnwrest plow. both cost 3w turnwrest for 3w and 0.5actions you can plow 3 fields at once (2 extra fields) forest farmer for 3w and 1f and 1 action will get you 3 late actions, assuming you get to use it all 3 times. I'm worried too hunter, so we won't necessarily use this card in place of Barrens. This one is currently added into G2x as an extra for some late play testing (Barrens is still around too). In a few weeks, after a few plays, we can tell how this card is. As long as it isn't busted, its publishable if we want to replace Barrens with in. I assume you mean this with your analysis: turnwrest for 3w and 0.5 actions you can plow 3 fields at once for 1 action. = 1.5 actions + 3 Wood for 3 fields. forest farmer for 3w + 1f and 1 action will get you 3 fields and 3 lesser actions = 1 action + 3 Wood + 1 Food for 3 fields. |

I love this card. It's clear, easy to use and adds a benefit to plowing. Far more elegant than Barrens Farmer. although Hala's combo of Barrens + Yeoman was really nice. | Mar 29, 2011 4:42pm [quote] |

Is there any reason why this shouldn't be Occupation 1+ ? Its similar in strength to a plow 3 field Minor. | Apr 1, 2011 7:29pm [quote] |
