At the end of each Work phase in which you used both the "Build Stables" action on an Action space and the "Build Fences" action on an Action space, you receive 1 animal of each kind. [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

Ex. "Take 1 reed" + "Take 1 stone" = receive 1 wood + 1 clay "Sow" + "Take 1 grain" + "Take 1 vegetable" = immediate field phase "Build room(s)" + "Renovate" = Play a major improvement "Renovate" + "Renovate" = Receive 2 guests for the next round |
This is a generic card for an idea: If you use some preset action spaces on the same round, something good happens. A low number of synergistic actions give a low reward. A high number of unsynergistic actions give a huge one.May 22, 2011 4:19pm [quote] |

Interesting template. Could be some interesting uses for it. | May 22, 2011 7:00pm [quote] |

Even if I built fences just once (so no marginal actions spent on it), getting one animal in exchange for the 1 action and 1 (presumptive) food spent to put this in pay doesn't seem worth it. I can't hold a candle to the players on this site, but I doubt I'd ever play this barring some game where the playing of an occupation in and of itself was valuable to me. |
I'm skeptical of the specific form of the proposed template; I don't normally want to build fences very often, so I'd be spending an action (building fences) gain an animal. I'd like to think that I could get two or three animals at once with one action at at least some point in the game.May 22, 2011 10:46pm [quote] |

Quote from: senseless on May 22, 2011 4:19pm "Renovate" + "Renovate" = Receive 2 guests for the next round In nearly all circumstances wouldn't this be useless as the only time you can double renovate is in Round 14, making the guests useless? I suppose the Chamberlain (and probably other combos) would permit this, but it seems extremely situations. Or was this a joke that clearly went over my head? In general, the template seems interesting, but I didn't really care for any of the four specific examples. |

Original card missed a couple words at the end. The examples were just that, examples. And, yes, the Reno+Reno was a joke May 23, 2011 2:31am [quote] |

Good card, i like it, but it's easy to block. Anyway you've got my vote. | May 23, 2011 3:12am [quote] |

Some nitpicks: Is it correct wording to say "If you've used" as distinct to something about "people" or "family members"? Do we need to clarify that you must have used the action space this round? Is it okay to refer to the "Build Stables action space" as distinct from the "Build Room(s) and/or Stable(s)" action space? What if I built a room, but no stables? Does Renovate + Fences count as "Build Fences"? I assume not. Do you get a Horse in Farmers of the Moor? I assume the animals can be cooked if you don't have a place to keep them? |
The new version certainly made me stop to think whether I could build a game around it. I'm not certain that I could, but I'd certainly give it a try. So I'm changing my vote to "Yes."May 23, 2011 9:57am [quote] |

Do we need to clarify that you must have used the action space this round? "If you have a family member on space A and another on space B" is much longer and leads to new misreadings. I guess it's ok like this. It's the Return Home phase after all, where you pick your family members from the board. Quote Is it okay to refer to the "Build Stables action space" as distinct from the "Build Room(s) and/or Stable(s)" action space? What if I built a room, but no stables? Does Renovate + Fences count as "Build Fences"? I assume not. I see that. The intention of the card is having you build fences and stables the same turn; but by using these spaces, to avoid degenerate combos (I don't recall its name, but build a free stable when fencing is there). Quote Do you get a Horse in Farmers of the Moor? I assume the animals can be cooked if you don't have a place to keep them? Yes, you get one animal of each kind (available). Like all the cards that reward you with animals, yes, you can cook them immediately. But remember you have a new stable and fences! |

At each Return Home phase, if you've used the 'Build Stables' action from an action space and the 'Build Fences' action from an action space, you receive 1 animal of each kind. Allows: Fencing from Reno+Fences Disallows: Building a room but not a stable. |
Would this be better?May 23, 2011 10:38am [quote] |
