Once during each Returning home phase, you may pay 1 Vegetable from your supply to take a "Plow 1 field", "Build fences", or "Build stables" action without placing a person. [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

The name, of course, can be changed, but I figured why not have some fun with it. In all seriousness, I think it's an interesting mechanic that helps with a crop growing strategy. | May 27, 2011 2:32am [quote] |

After some thinking, I realized Popeye was way too weak, which shouldn't be, because he's Popeye. Now he'll work double duty for you each round, but only if you feed him his spinach. A-gah-gah-gah-gah-gah-gah! Old: During the Field Phase of Harvest, you may pay 1 Vegetable to the supply to Plow 1 Field. New: During the returning home phase of each round, you may pay 1 Vegetable to Plow 1 Field, build Fences, or build Stables. I reset the votes because the card changed so much. |

a dangerous combo with gardener | Jun 1, 2011 3:14am [quote] |

The current wording (pay up to 1 vegetable) lets you pay zero vegetables and plow/stable/fence. "Once per returning phase, you may pay 1 vegetable to..." |

Quote from: letsdance on Jun 1, 2011 3:14am a dangerous combo with gardener Gardener is certainly the best combo for this card, but I wouldn't call it broken. You won't be able to rely on the veggies for food like you usually can with Gardener. And you can brag to people that you build a complete farm using only vegetables. |

He's strong to the finish! I like it. If we don't want to name it after Popeye directly (who knows about the copyright issues if this sees publication), it could be named "Sailor Man." I like how completely mysterious that name would be to anyone unfamiliar with Popeye. |

But I'll keep the name at Popeye for now so people who don't look at the picture don't get confused. |

No play for Popeye yet! Because having the extra veggies to use him is kind of rare, I'm wondering if he shouldn't help out your veggie production a bit. Two ideas: 1) When you play Popeye, you receive 1 Vegetable. 2) When you play Popeye, you may harvest all of your Vegetable Fields. What are people's thoughts about adding one of these 2 ideas? Or, should it be that if you wanna play Popeye, it's up to you to cone up with the veggies without his help? |

my concern is thematic, there is no Popeye in the context of Agricola. I agree with tacticus. | Jun 5, 2011 5:19pm [quote] (Edit: Jun 5, 2011 5:20pm) |
