Fantastic. Finally a card that encourages people to build Stone rooms. However, i'm not sure its balanced as is. chris

I hope it will be. But with mason it might be really strong!
But whatever, I think it can encourage some alternative stone room strategies.

I like the idea of rewarding stone rooms, but I'm not sure what the best way to do it is. This seems incomplete somehow. tacticus

i used this today and it was very nice. i took it in part to block Mason which was in the draft. was able to build a stone room in round 12 paying full a full 5s2r (having to forgo any stone majors). overall i liked it very much. i wonder if it needs a thematically appropriate prereq, but i'm not sure what that would be. hunter

...and you can imagine who mason had there...

I like the card as well and played it the game before. Unfortunately the in front of me sitting hunter played netfisherman and grabbed reed the whole game (there was a lot of food trouble everywhere). Well, I could manage to pick 4s in the midgame an finally build a room in round 14 which was enough to tie for the win. After 3 games I would say, funny to play with but not too strong.

Appropriate prereq could be: have one stone, or renovated to stone house (I think second alternative is too weak)

I'm conflicted by this card - rewarding stone rooms built the hard way is a cool idea, bit it seems unfair to reward the Mason and Master Builder with 3 fields just for doing their jobs. Especially in non-draft, a player who has this out can drop Mason out of nowhere in Round 14 for a cool 9 points.

I'd prefer it to say "Whenever you take a build rooms action to build a stone room...". Though that would unfortunately eliminate SHE.

A solution that would include SHE but would eliminate Mason or Master Builder would be: Whenever you pay stone to build a room" or "Whenever you pay stone to build a stone room" etc.

The first variant would also combo with Alternative designer for rooms of any material. The second has an odd resonance (apparently redundant), but it would make the card apply only to what we want.

3 free fields is too much anyways, even if you do it regularly. i will just build a stone house instead of plowing. that needs the same number of actions as plowing 3 fields, but those actions are easier to get in the late game and it also gets me a free stone house. this is without any combos and i can build stables too.

it should be 2 fields maximum. remove the 1 food cost, it doesn't really matter, or add it as cost to the card itself.

Well first of all I have to say, getting 2 fields as reward is a joke! Have you ever build a stone room? I don't think so, it is really really tough and needs a lot of actions (taking stone at least twice you couldn't spend on majors etc.).
If 3 fields is too good here each plow has to be banned! Riding plow can be used twice, I would like to see stonefields used twice (?)

The other side I can understand is that mason or masterbuilder might get too strong with this card. Nevertheless I am not convinced to change the card that these occs won't work. If I do I see this card as really really weak. In 90% it wouldn't be drafted that seems clear for me.

Compare the card to oxteam for example, I think it's easier to get 3 fields with oxteam than with stone fields (or not?) and oxteam will give you 1 vpts at the end and it's often used by taken sp. The restriction of having 2 cattle is easy to manage if you plan it.

So in my opinion it might be the best way to set higher restrictions for the card and not destroy all the combos it would work with.
