When you play this card, place a Guest token on any Round space at least 3 higher than the current round. At the start of that round, pay the Starting player (which may be you) 1 Food and place the Guest. After that, play starts with the starting player as usual. I'm also not sure you need to pay every player 1 Food. "When you play this card, place a Guest token on any Round space at least 3 Rounds away. At the start of that round, pay the Starting player 1 Food and place a Person. After that, play starts with the Starting player as usual. (If you are the Starting player that round, you do not get any advantage.)" |
A one-time Taster. I like it. I'd remove the prereq but write, "...Place a Guest token on any Round space at least 3 rounds away...."Jun 3, 2011 9:50am [quote] |

If so, I like chris' version better, which basically makes this a one-shot Taster, but also lets players plan for it. However, I think chris' version could use some tweaking; for instance, it doesn't say that you get the Guest token (and thus an extra action in the round), but I assume that the intention is that you do. I would also delete the parenthetical comment so that if the Backstreet Moneylender is the Starting Player in the appropriate round, he or she does get two actions in a row at the start of the work phase. That's nice, but it doesn't strike me as insane, since everybody will know that it's coming. |
My initial reading of this card suggested that you had to take the just-revealed action space with the Guest token, but a second reading makes me think that isn't true. Is it correct that you can take any (legal) action space with the Guest token?Jun 3, 2011 4:53pm [quote] |

I'll remove the prereq and change the text from Pay 1 food to each other player. Place a guest token on any unrevealed action space. When that round begins, use the guest to take an action before the first turn of the round. The rest of the round proceeds normally beginning with the starting player. to When you play this card, place a Guest token on any Round space at least 3 Rounds away. At the start of that round, pay the Starting player 1 Food and place a Person. After that, play starts with the Starting player as usual. |

If you're the Starting Player, what happens if you don't have 1 food? What is the earliest Round space that is "at least 3 rounds away" from Round 1? Is it round 4 or round 5? |

So, if you are the starting player you place the guest and your first family member the one after the other? | Jun 16, 2011 2:14pm [quote] |

can anyone explain me why this is liked so much and my spyJun 16, 2011 3:00pm [quote] |

I don't think they are really the same, Letsdance. Spy uses an action to guarantee starting player. Backstreet moneylender gives you a free action in the future. The way they are used is the same, but I agree with rhentzal - Spy was a bit weak. | Jun 17, 2011 3:52am [quote] |
