A crop version of Tenant Farmer, inspired by Wimpy's famous line, "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."

Bread (Grain)
Lettuce/Tomato (Vegetable)
Meat / Cheese (2 Food)
Bread (More of that Grain)

The free food this provides is purely thematic (hamburgers) but can be removed, and if so, the name can be changed as well. inoshishi

The food should be removed.

This fellow is way stronger than Tenant Farmer, even without the food. You can play him at any time (instead of waiting for storage capacity), and you can get the grain and veggies multiplying without taking more grain and veggies from the board.

In fact, I think I'd rank this at near the top of the heap of cards that provide grain and/or veg.

No problem - removed the food and changed the name for now. Will try to think if a better name and find a new picture.

Tact, do you think this is okay being so strong, or should it be cut down a notch? (remove a grain, or make the penalty 2 points, for example)

Name and picture updated.

This gives you the same amount of crops as one use of Market Woman (without having to wait for and spend an action taking veggies) and Market Crier (without having to give everyone else a grain and spend an action taking grain), at the cost of being a one-time use and having to repay the loan.

The benefit, of course, is that you get the crops immediately, which can really kickstart your planting. I think it's quite powerful in that regard, which makes it interesting with the drawbacks.

there is a card (i think Z-deck) that sells you 2g and 2v for 2/3 food each. this eager gardener is a much much more powerful version of that. reducing it to 1g (or give a choice of any 2 g and/or v) might be better. but we can as well test the current version to see how it works out. letsdance

Yes, I admit it may be too strong as written, but as you say I'd really like to see some playtesting too. It can later be reduced to 1 and 1 if it needs to be. Thanks Dance.

This feels extremely strong to me; I would probably opt for a baking/veggies strategy from the beginning if this showed up in my hand.

That said, it takes a very strong card (e.g. Field Watchman) for me to even try feeding through non-livestock farming, so maybe this couldn't really be made much weaker without destroying it's raison d'etre.

I also appreciate the symmetry with Tenant Farmer.

What about forcing you to repay 1 crop from the loan at each of the next three harvests? That would require somewhat more planning. Or perhaps even force a larger repayment: 4 grain and 2 vegetables.

I've never used the Tenant Farmer with any great success (despite it sounding pretty good to my ears), but this seems much better.

I agree this is way stronger than Tenant Farmer, and because of that the repayment schedule or amount should be increased. I like the once per harvest idea. inoshishi
