Unlike the Broom, this Occupation can expand choices of minor Improvements in the early stages. hemo

It's hard for me to judge the power of this card beyond the obvious observation that it's a gamble.

Still, drawing new cards seems like a largely unexplored mechanic in Agricola; I see no reason not to explore it through new cards and playtesting.

Nitpick: Is it necessary to say that you add the new minor improvements to your hand?

I like the card. I also like that you can play a minor that is already in your hand. I used it when occ somehow fell to me when I was last, and I was able to play a useful minor that costs food - It was nice because sp probably wouldnt be available to me on my 2nd move. armyguy

for immediately playing an improvement i like my home constructor much better:

and i don't think this card offers anything insteresting beyond that.

I'll post the same I think I posted on Broomsquire, since I think it also applies to this card:

I'm interested as to why this is such a popular card. A while back, I designed something very similar: http://play-agricola.com/Agricola/Cards/index.php?id=2172

It was voted down because it induced extra luck into the game. Since then, I've come to agree with the reasons people voted no for Sweeper, which is why I'm hesitant about this card--it's good if you get lucky, and bad otherwise. This basically undermines one of the fundamental things which makes Agricola such a well-designed game: besides for a little randomness to vary each game, it's almost all strategy.

Whatever you feel about the luck issue, I also agree this will just make the game take a lot longer to play, and can easily lead to analysis paralysis.

I like these luck-of-the-draw cards and I think this one is fun. However, it reminds me of Geode which was pushed out to the G2x deck, never to be heard of again. If that didn't make it, what chance does this have?

almost everyone prefers drafting to picking cards. So what's the point with "screw-the-draft, i pick"-cards?

i don't like them.

I was browsing the far end and I can answer luki's question:

It's not about "screw the draft". It's about extra grist for the mill; if you've got good occ/minor playing ability drafted, you'll run out of occs and minors unless you have cards that draw more. Which is sad. It's *fun* to play a ton of cards out.
