Cost=none, Vps=0, Prereq=no Occupation If you have 1/2 plowed fields, immediately pay 1/2 Food to play 1/2 Occupations. [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

In general I agree with the majority that it is not possible. However, if you look at the problem this way : Being last sucks becuase you are forced to take 1g, 1 field, or DL as your last action in the first round. In general those 3 actions are not as good as others. Of course being last sucks in other ways, too, but those I don't know how to fix. For this particular reason I mentioned, one can try to increase the value of those 3 actions. This is one example to do so. |
This is responding to trey's dream of helping the last player with new cards.Jun 15, 2011 2:50pm [quote] |

I like this idea no only because it helps the last player but also because it works well with some plow-early combo. But the word "plowed" seems redundant? I am not sure whether Acreage without any goods on it counts as 2 fields in your farm. | Jun 15, 2011 5:54pm [quote] (Edit: Jun 15, 2011 5:57pm) |

This also combos spectacularly well with G3 Center Plow. |
I think this card is strongest for the player who starts 2nd, since they tend to have the most access to quality resource grabs in rounds 1 and 2. But perhaps your objective will be achieved indirectly if 1st, 2nd, or 3rd player consciously avoid taking an open occ space in order to take advantage of this card. I like this approach better than what is proposed in the forums, since this card doesn't force the 4th player to take SP round 1.Jun 15, 2011 6:44pm [quote] |

In Rounds 1-4 you can Plow,Plow,Plow,Plow and then take SP in Round 4 to play 4 Occupations. In this scenario, this Minor gives 3.5 free actions and 3 Food. |
I really like the idea. But this is very strong. It should certainly have a cost. You do realize this gives you free actions and free food right? And you don't have to fight for the Occ spot in Stage 1.Jun 15, 2011 8:30pm [quote] |

I agree with Chris, this is broken strong right now. | Jun 15, 2011 9:22pm [quote] |

Yes, it would be more balanced if it said "When you play this card, return any number of Plowed fields to your supply. Afterward, you may play that many Occupations (without paying any Food.)" | Jun 15, 2011 10:45pm [quote] |

Perhaps with my suggestion, you could remove the prereq to give it a bump in strength. |
My suggestion would have the disadvantage of not being able to use the Occupations during Stage 1. For example, no Berry Picker. So i don't think it would be very powerful. It would just be helpful for certain strategies. i.e. You want to get out 4 Occupations in Stage 1 but don't need them until Stage 2 or later.Jun 16, 2011 9:01am [quote] |

Also the unlimited scaling seems to be the source of the problem. I don't want to create a big game changing card. How about this : Both no occ and 1 plowed field in preq. Immetiately play 1 occupation for free. If you have more than one fields, you may pay 1f to play another occupation. The second one can be 2f to finetune the strength. I recall we say plowed fields to avoid confusion from Acreage / Veggie sowing minors. another thing that bugs me is sometimes it's more annoying to be forced to play 1f occ in the first round. In many cases I prefer 3w. But I really don't want to allow even 1 occupation. |
hmm, I think losing the fields will be a big blow.Jun 16, 2011 10:10am [quote] (Edit: Jun 16, 2011 10:12am) |
