At the end of the game, you receive 1 Bonus Point for each card with a Bonus point symbol that you play after this one. (An example of a Bonus point symbol appears on the bottom of this card.) [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

I like it as it is, we need some powerful cards on the level of Braggart, etc. |
Ooh, this is a nice one. Could end up giving a lot of bonus points though - 10+ in some cases which would make it really powerful. Harder to predict than Braggart though, and if you are playing a lot of Occs with bonus points you are probably giving the other players points as well.Dec 3, 2011 4:55am [quote] |

I played this for 6 points. It was a lot of fun. At first glance it looked powerful enough to draft my whole hand around. I took it over Chamberlain, but there was a novelty factor involved. | Dec 5, 2011 9:16pm [quote] |

I think 6 points is not super powerfull and in non-draft games it will be even harder (but Braggart gives even in non-draft games lots of points) | Dec 6, 2011 3:36am [quote] |

Stop making comparisons with Braggart. This card is strong, but I like it. | Jan 31, 2012 3:31pm [quote] |

this card is definitely worth building your draft around. i suspect it is overpowered. | Feb 1, 2012 6:15am [quote] |

At the end of the game, each of your other played cards that have a "bonus point" symbol is worth one additional bonus point. or even harder: At the end of the game, you receive one bonus point for each of your other cards that already give you bonus points. Maybe this is not the best wording: what I want to say is to score only the cards that actually give you bonus points, not those that have a bonus point symbol but you don't get them (for example, you would not get points from playing Reeve if you don't get the Reeve points). |
The easiest tweaking would be to remove "including this one":Feb 1, 2012 11:59am [quote] |

Quote from: hala on Feb 1, 2012 11:59am At the end of the game, you receive one bonus point for each of your other cards that already give you bonus points. hmm, I think this is the best suggestion. Rewarding actually getting the bonus points instead of just those cards. In that case this card itself should be included. So zero VP if you don't have any other cards for bonus points, but start from 2VP if you have one other card which you do score. |

One concern I have with making this score only for cards that already give you bonus points is the vaguely circular nature of the scoring: Notary would score itself only if another card scored you bonus points. I find this slightly unintuitive but I think changing it so it doesn't count itself makes it too weak. Another option: Change the card so it only scores for other cards which actually score bonus points but also add something like "Whenever you play a card with a bonus point symbol, you receive 1 Food". That gives an incentive to play the Notary earlier in the game, then other players can see what you're doing and compete for Joinery/Pottery/BMW. What do you think? |
My original thoughts for this card were as Hala suggests: you only score Notary points for the cards which actually score bonus points. I decided to start with this simpler idea (score all of them regardless) and see how it went.Feb 5, 2012 8:00am [quote] |
