Just a wording thing: right now it's not clear that you get a food every time you play an improvement. Could be "Whenever you play an improvement, you receive one food before paying the costs of the improvement." tacticus

my impression is that on average people play more improvements than occupations,
but that doesn't mean this is stronger than Patron, since "Play 1 Occupation" is a strong action.

i don't think so. occs are generally stronger than improvements (minors at least) and patron gives 2f, not 1. but i agree you general you play more improvements than occs. i think this is closer in strength to foreman.

Sorry, I don't get your point. Could you have an example where the current wording will be confusing?

I've just played Engineer. I play "an improvement" and receive 1 food. I play another improvement, and reach for the food: my opponent smacks my hand, and points out that the card only references one improvement.

In other words, I think you need "whenever." I know it's nit-picky, but it's also pretty standard Agricola language. I basically copied the format of the Bookshelf exactly.

Gotcha. I changed the text. Thanks, tacticus. By the way, whenever I used a photo outside of the database here, the whole card doesn't show up. Does anyone know what the problem might be? colby

I think the card is weak. Unless you have Braggart, how many improvements would one play during a game? Around 6 I'd say. Early occupation for 6 food is a bad investment. Maybe, I don't know, 2f whenever you buy a major improvement (or an upgrade to a major) and 1f whenever you play a minor. As for the name, it's not good for that time period. hala

I think it should be 1f for a Minor and 2f for a Major. I like the card, even if it's on the weaker side. Not every card has to be a powerhouse and not every card has to be of equal power.

I think Engineer is an ok name, but something like Village Planner or Master Craftsman would be better.
