I would nix the last sentence completely. (Effectively, you are buying the clay for 1 food.) | Feb 10, 2016 3:14am [quote] (Edit: Nov 14, 2017 12:47am) |

I would use it to buy some clay, if I had some clay. Seriously though, I don't see this as narrow at all. I feel like this is playable every game for almost every player. Heck, there's been games where I would have played this for 1 clay. |

yes kill the brackets. used for 1c it's even weaker than building material. but used for 2-3c it's a nice card, and you'll usually have 4c once during the game. | Feb 17, 2016 5:47pm [quote] |

"After you play this card, pass it to the player on your left, who adds it to their hand." It should be "...his/her hand..." I would even be happy with only "his" or only "her". Either way, it needs to be in the singular form. |
I feel that it is too bad that cards like this were not properly checked for grammar. In particular, the last line which is likely the standard sentence on all passing Minor Improvements in this collection: Nov 13, 2017 11:01pm [quote] (Edit: Nov 13, 2017 11:09pm) |

Wallfly, I understand where you're coming from. While the singular "they" is not universally accepted as a gender-neutral pronoun, it has been commonly used that way in the past and present and I have no issue with its use here. -Lumin | Nov 13, 2017 11:39pm [quote] (Edit: Nov 13, 2017 11:40pm) |

In this case, all gender discussion aside, one should not be using the pronoun in its plural form (i.e. their) for "a player." Cheers from the red-pen lady! |
Thank you for your comment, Lumin. I'm not disputing the gender-neutrality of they or their. I am stating that grammatically, we cannot refer to a "player's" hand as "their" hand. It would be either "his", "her" or "his/her" hand. The latter is the most politically correct but of course it is more wordy. In many board games I own with sets of instructions, there is a stipulation at the beginning of the rule book stating that from herein after, the player will be referred to as he or she with the pronoun of him or her used. Or, throughout the rules, the authors just use s/he, his/her or him/her. Nov 14, 2017 12:40am [quote] (Edit: Nov 14, 2017 12:43am) |
