Immediately after each time you use the "Build rooms and/or stables" or "Take 1 Grain" action space, you can use the respective other with the same person (even if it is occupied). [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

Does the peep move to the other space? Usually a card like this would say "without placing a person" rather than "with the same person." | Aug 24, 2016 3:02am [quote] |

Yes, the wording needs changed a bit. -sandswoll |
Oh good! A way to get grain card! Whew.Aug 24, 2016 6:14am [quote] |

The wording on Swagman does need changing. Instead of saying "other of the two", I feel it needs to specify "Action Space". We had a game where a player used Bed Maker (see below): The player wasn't sure where his peep should end up - on Grain or on Build rooms and/or stables. We assumed "Build rooms and/or stables" - but it's not clear. It's a shame that many of these J cards already went to publishing. Cheers. |
Current text: Each time you use the "Build rooms and/or stables" or "Take 1 Grain" action space, you can immediately use the other of the two with the same person, regardless whether or not it is occupied.Sep 1, 2017 7:42am [quote] (Edit: Nov 17, 2017 5:36pm) |

So what is the rule here? I assume family members should stay at the second action space they used. | Nov 17, 2017 3:57pm [quote] |

Quote from: oxmond on Nov 17, 2017 3:57pm So what is the rule here? I assume family members should stay at the second action space they used. The person should stay at second action space. "Using an action space with a person" must place a person on an action space. Rulebook Appendix p.3 Using an action space, taking an action: Using an action space always entails placing a person on that action space. Using the effect of an action space or taking an action does not necessarily entail placing a person (but it can). p.5 "Using an action space", however, always means first placing a person, then taking at least one action provided by the action space or taking a replacement action (allowed by a card you played). Swagman (published text) Immediately after each time you use the "Farm Expansion" or "Grain Seeds" action space, you can use the respective other space with the same person (even if it is occupied). |

The rulebook appendix can be found here: http://www.mayfairgames.com/files/supportfiles/mfg3515_appendix_en.pdf The rulebook can be found here: http://www.mayfairgames.com/files/supportfiles/mfg3515_rules_en.pdf It is possible that Mayfair's website will not exist much longer given their transfer of IP to Asmodee, so I recommend downloading... |
Thanks for finding that, unknown! This also helps clarify Freshman. I will post these clarifications to the forums when I come across the relevant threads.Mar 5, 2018 11:00am [quote] |

In this interpretation of the rule, it doesn't matter where the player token ends up, because each time it uses a space it gets to use the other. This seems to create a semi-infinite loop (after all, you are limited by the resources in your supply, which determine how many rooms/stables you can build. We could find nothing in the wording of the card that expressly forbids this player's action, but it seems certainly not in the spirit of the rules. Please advise. |
We had a new interpretation of this card last night that I'd like a ruling on. A player argued that "after each time" meant that if you built a room, you could then bounce to grain seeds, and since you'd then used grain seeds, you could bounce back to build rooms to build a stable, and then, since you'd used the farm expansion space, you could bounce back to grain seeds again, etc. So he built a room and four stables and took 5 grain, all in the same turn.Dec 28, 2018 3:19pm [quote] |

And, this is probably the intent because I can't otherwise figure out why else it would say "Immediately after each time..." instead of "Once per turn, whenever ..." |
Yes, the wording allows this. Dec 30, 2018 4:02pm [quote] (Edit: Dec 30, 2018 4:04pm) |

------------------------- Quote from: Grzegorz on Dec 31, 2018 Only one jump per turn. I see how this is poorly worded, for which I'm sorry. Never occured to us that this "wrong" interpretation, indeed, is what the card actually says. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2120286/question-about-swagman |
