Cost=1W, Vps=0, Prereq=none Select 3 occupations in your hand and determine one of them at random. You can immediately play that occupation, without paying an occupation cost. [View playtest games] [View all dealt games] |

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WUl0HlzX6Yx0ume75UmpaIMhoHukx9XufM_LbV1oZ6E/edit#, it says no, one cannot play this if one has less than 3 Occupations. "Paper Knife (Cost 1W.) A003 Select 3 occupations in your hand. Select one of them randomly, which you can play immediately without paying an occupation cost. May not be played if you have 2 or fewer occupations in your hand. If you select an occupation that has an additional cost you cannot pay, that occupation is removed from the game instead of played." |
Good question, but in the new edition's compendium located here May 6, 2023 3:44pm [quote] |

Hmm, I can't find anything on BGG so I'm curious where Lumin got that ruling. I don't understand why it would be different than the ruling on plows (that say plow 3 but you can plow 2 if you don't have space for 3) and I don't understand why the occ isn't just returned to your hand if you can't pay the cost (which is how other cards work) I wouldn't follow this ruling unless there is better explanation for it. |
